Summer Concerts are quickly approaching!
This summer, I am fortunate enough to continue working with the Smithtown Community Band as their Associate Director. My responsibilities include studying and preparing 6-8 pieces over the course of a handful of rehearsals. My knowledge of the music needs to be impeccable due to the small amount of rehearsals. Being efficient on the podium is the only way to make our concerts musical under the circumstances.
In addition to working with the Smithtown Community Band, I am honored to have Pacem - a new and unpublished work for Wind Ensemble premiered by the Huntington Community Band. As part of their Call for Scores agreement, I will have the chance to workshop Pacem with the band, as well as conduct the World Premiere on July 31st.
Needless to say, in addition to planning rehearsals for the BAFFA Symphony Orchestra and beginning my dissertation research (and starting a few compositions for fun), there are quite a few scores to study in the next two weeks.
