Score study and family day!
It's the weekend! A perfect time to make memories with family. It's also a great day for some score study. With less than 2 months before Smithtown Community Band rehearsals begin, it's time to dig deep on the 6 pieces I'll be conducting and rehearsals this summer. Score study for this ensemble is extremely important because we learn 3 completely different programs in the course of 6 weeks. While playing something that was previously in the band's library can save time in the rehearsal process, anything new needs my utmost attention to ensure success. It's a different style of score study and rehearsing for me, but in some ways, it makes me more efficient as a conductor. I'm looking forward to my 11th season as Associate Conductor!
