Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with Professor Jim Dragovich, director of the Five Towns College Wind Ensemble (Dix Hills, NY) to discuss the detailed stories of the second and third movements to Symphony No. 1: "A Long Island Portrait." We sat with the score and talked for about an hour about some of the composition devices and techniques I used to help depict the stories behind this programmatic work.
I am honored to share that I have been asked to conduct these two movements at their concert on Monday, May 13th. Thank you to Professor Dragovich and the entire Five Towns College Wind Ensemble for finding value in my work and efforts as a composer and a conductor.
After our meeting, we had rehearsal in preparation for our upcoming Carnegie Hall performance, which included Toccata Marziale, Canterbury Chorale, and With Heart and Voice.
